This is What Judas Looks Like

Judas Betrays Jesus

Remember Judas was someone at the revivals, fellowships, miracles, sermons, he was there. He was in Jesus' presence.

So let us take a deeper look at Judas with a few scriptures.

Mark 14:10-11,18,20-21,44-45 BSB
Then Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Jesus to them. [11] They were delighted to hear this, and they promised to give him money. So Judas began to look for an opportunity to betray Jesus. [18] And while they were reclining and eating, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, one of you who is eating with Me will betray Me.” [20] He answered, “It is one of the Twelve—the one who is dipping his hand into the bowl with Me. [21] The Son of Man will go just as it is written about Him, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”  [44] Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The One I kiss is the man; arrest Him and lead Him away securely.” [45] Going directly to Jesus, he said, “Rabbi!” and kissed Him.

- Some insight I would like to add is that this wasn't an over night process. That this was the process of sin. The Bible says the wages of sin is death. (Romans. 6:23)

When lust is conceived brings forth sin (James 1:15)

In other words when strong desire is conceived towards something that's not for the things of God is conceived (think conception) brings forth or gives birth to sin.

And the wages, outcome, pay check for that is death.

Luke 22:3, John 13:27 Satan entered Judas

Then this leads up to the crucifixion.

John 12:4-8 BSB

But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was going to betray Him, asked, [5] “Why wasn’t this perfume sold for three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor?” [6] Judas did not say this because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief. As keeper of the money bag, he used to take from what was put into it. [7] “Leave her alone,” Jesus replied. “She has kept this perfume in preparation for the day of My burial. [8] The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have Me.”...

Now remember I mentioned above that this doesn't happen over night. I.e. backsliding, betrayal, a great fall as though it seems

Remember Humpty dumpty had a great fall and all the kings men couldn't gather all of the pieces of Humpty dumpty.

God can repair things beyond what seems mendable unless we have to much pride and are overtaken by sin and evil desires.

Here you see in the text John 12:4-8 verse 6 Judas didn't care for the poor but he was a thief yet he was the treasurer or the keeper of the money. Jesus knew He wasn't dumb.

Sometimes we wonder why it looks like others are getting away with things. Know that they are not and their time is coming unless true repentance takes place God gives space for this but it is up to each man to truly turn to Jesus and take opportunity when the Lord provides the time and hour to

Matthew 27:5, Acts 1:18

Judas outcome was he hung himself. And body fell head long and burst.

Peter's Denial

Mark 14:30-31, 66-67

[30] “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.”

[31] But Peter kept insisting, “Even if I have to die with You, I will never deny You.” And all the others said the same thing.

[66] While Peter was in the courtyard below, one of the servant girls of the high priest came down [67] and saw him warming himself there. She looked at Peter and said, “You also were with Jesus the Nazarene.” [68] But he denied it. “I do not know or even understand what you are talking about,” he said. Then he went out to the gateway, and the rooster crowed. [69] There the servant girl saw him and again said to those standing nearby, “This man is one of them.” [70] But he denied it again. After a little while, those standing nearby said once more to Peter, “Surely you are one of them, for you too are a Galilean.” [71] But he began to curse and swear, “I do not know this man of whom you speak!” [72] And immediately the rooster crowed a second time. Then Peter remembered the word that Jesus had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” And he broke down and wept.

Notice Peter genuinely thought or sounded like he would never deny Jesus but the hour came and Jesus warned him of this.

This shows us that we never know ourselves like we think we do and that Jesus isn't scared of we do.

Not saying it is okay. But there's hope and Jesus forgives us and makes a way.

Later on Jesus meets with Peter after the crucifixion Peter do you love me 3 times (more can be said about this but will have to save this for another time).(John 21:15-17)

Then Jesus tells Peter when you are converted strengthen your brethren.

Jesus even warned Peter that Satan came to sift him like wheat but He prayed that his faith wouldn't fail Him! (Luke 22:31-32)

Acts 2, 1 & 2 Peter are evidence of Peter's outcome.

Peter repented and preached and strengthened the brethren until he became a martyr.
